Baby Love

Finished up a fun side project last weekend! A Baby Shower! A good friend was throwing it and asked if I'd help style it. The challenge? To do it under $150 and in a church office in Manhattan. Here's the skinny:

Space: A New York church office filled with office furniture and large windows looking out onto the city

Budget: $150

Size: Plan for 50 people

Look & Feel: Anthropologie vibe and texture using a color palette of orange and blue

Necessities: Dinner Plates, Dessert Plates, Cups, Coffee Cups, Cutlery and Napkins for 50 people.

Sparkle: Take care of decor, spacial layout, party favors and a few other treats. . .

Short Term Goal: Overhaul the office for cheap. I LOVE these kinds of challenges.

Long Term Goal: Use the decorations in the baby room post shower.

First stop. Target in the Bronx. Here's what I came home with:

Heck yes, those are Oatmeal Creme Pies. OCP4L.

(Oatmeal Creme Pie for Life)

Other purchases to note: All the plates, napkins, cups and cutlery were on sale. The Christmas Ornaments were part of the Dollar Section - hello party favor! Also loaded up on kraft paper and brown paper sacks. A staple in every crafters life.

Party favors in progress . . .

I've seen that darling DIY fabric garland all over the place and I thought this would be a great venue to try it! For my project, coworker Bridget and I ran by Salvation Army during lunch and picked up a stack of blue men's dress shirts for cheap!

Don't worry, I washed them that night. Then I cut out lots and lots of triangles.

While I was cutting triangles, Lindsay Ann, my fashion designer roommate, worked her magic on a matching fabric cuff for the Mom-To-Be!

That's enough prep. Here's the Before:

My fabric garland! Also, the striped fabric is from 2 IKEA duvets I bought to try out as curtains in my bedroom. They didn't work in my room. So I tried them as table cloths at Taco Tuesday a few weeks ago. Genius! They were a clever little table solution for this party!

Oatmeal creme pies!

Also added a handful of paper lanterns. Added a quaint detail to the room.

And my favorite - The Bangle! We added the cuff from one of the men's dress shirts. Seriously, how cute is that?

And the party favors. A little craftastic, but I still like them :)

Thats all I got! Thanks for letting me style the shower Anna! I had a ball!

Thanks to Stacy and Anne for helping me schlep!! Couldn't have done it with out y'all.
